Christian man injured in Sargodha mob violence passes away in Rawalpindi
A Christian man, who was severely injured in a mob attack last month over an allegation of desecrating a sacred text in Sargodha, has died at a hospital in Rawalpindi.
After the incident, the injured man was shifted to a military hospital, where his condition was initially reported as stable.
However, a week ago, social media posts had claimed that the man and his son had died, which the nephew later clarified was not true.
Today, another nephew of the victim confirmed that the Christian man has now passed away at the Rawalpindi hospital, and his body is being transported back to Sargodha for the funeral, Dawn reported.
The man, whose identity was not disclosed, was attacked by a mob that had gathered at his house on May 25 after allegations surfaced that he had desecrated a sacred text.
The mob assaulted the man with kicks, fists, and stones, and also set fire to a shoe shop belonging to the Christian family.
Police had registered a terrorism case against 44 nominated suspects and 300-400 unidentified individuals, with over 100 arrests made.

A blasphemy case was also registered against the Christian man, which his nephew had denied.
On My 28, A nephew of the victim confirmed that the man was alive and had been moved to a different hospital for treatment. The Sargodha Regional Police Officer has also stated that there were no casualties or serious injuries in the incident.
