Judges need to work without fear: CJ LHC

"We are not here to be the B-team of any government, agency, or institution," CJ says

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Shahzad Malik has issued a strong call for unity within the judiciary, warning that internal conflicts weaken institutions and erode public trust.

Addressing the concluding ceremony of a pre-service training course at the Punjab Judicial Academy, Justice Malik stressed the importance of judicial independence, stating,

“We are not here to be the B-team of any government, agency, or institution. We must work together to improve the system.”

He highlighted the need for mutual respect between judges and lawyers, acknowledging the crucial role of the legal profession.

“Every judge holds lawyers in high regard,” he said, adding, “I believe 90% of lawyers are good, and I am hopeful that the culture of strikes in courts will end.”
