Punjab cuts school hours due to hot weather conditions
Schools in Punjab would operate for five and a half hours five days a week as the provincial government changes the school timings due to hot weather conditions.
In a notification, the provincial government said that the new timings would be in effect from May 18 to May 31.
From Monday to Thursday and Saturday, the schools would operate from 7am to 11:30am. The educational institutions would operate from 7am to 10:30am on Friday.
The government has also asked schools to ensure all fans were in working condition in schools and water coolers were available.
“No student in any school throughout the province is shall be made to sit in open space/lawn of the school during summer time.”
The decision comes as school hours in Islamabad were announced to be adjusted to run from 7:30 am to 1 pm from May 20.
