The capital administration has decided to shorten the school timings in Islamabad due to predicted heatwave conditions.

School hours in Islamabad will be adjusted to run from 7:30am to 1pm from May 20, according to the education secretary.

He highlighted the upcoming heatwave could be “intense”. The new schedule will remain in place until the start of the summer vacation.

The scorching hot weather would hit the country on May 21 and is “likely to convert to severe heatwave conditions from May 23 to May 27,” according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department advisory on Thursday.
