Aurangzeb orders FBR to crack down on fraudulent sales tax and fake invoices

Pakistan Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has taken a decisive step to combat sales tax fraud and the issuance of fake invoices, directing the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to intensify its efforts to detect and prosecute such cases, according to Business Recorder.

Aurangzeb visited FBR Headquarters and met with Chairman FBR Malik Amjed Zubair Tiwana and other members of the board.

He discussed various tax-related initiatives and addressed the issue of tax fraud.

The discussions also encompassed the Tajir Dost Scheme, which aims to bring small traders into the tax net and expand the tax base.

Minister Aurangzeb emphasized the need for an effective mechanism to identify instances of tax fraud and fake invoices.

He urged the FBR to devise strategies to uncover such cases and ensure the recovery of evaded sales tax obtained through fraudulent means.

The government remains committed to implementing measures that enhance transparency, reduce fraudulent activities, and bolster revenue generation.
