Police officer loses Rs700,000 to fake bank app scam

A police officer on the Motorway Police has become the victim of a cybercrime, losing Rs.700,000 from his bank account.

The officer, identified as Shahid, downloaded a fake bank application and clicked on a verification link, which resulted in the theft of his money.

According to Shahid, he received neither an OTP nor any verification after clicking the link.

He discovered that over Rs700,000 had vanished from his account.

Shahid claims that the bank administration initially assured him of a refund.

However, he has not received any assistance despite repeated attempts.

He plans to file a complaint against the bank with the State Bank of Pakistan.
