‘Missing’ Saudi woman sent back home as Pakistani man fails to prove nikah

Pakistan man accused of her abduction fails to produce evidence of their Nikah

A Saudi woman who was reported kidnapped from Islamabad has been sent back to Saudi Arabia after her recovery from Karachi. The woman had gone missing with a Pakistani man and there were reports of their marriage but the man failed to produce evidence of their nikah, BBC Urdu reported on Saturday.

An official from Islamabad Police, on the condition of anonymity, said that after recovering the Saudi woman in Karachi, authorities sent her back to Saudi Arabia on Friday.

A Lower Dir man, who worked as a driver with the woman in Saudi Arabia, is accused of abducting her. The man will be produced before the judicial magistrate for remand, the officer said.

There were reports that the duo had contracted a court marriage and entered into a nikah, but officials told BBC Urdu that the man had failed to produce any evidence to suggest that they had been married.

When both individuals were being brought back to Islamabad from Karachi, the official said, they revealed during the initial investigation that they had already contracted a court marriage.

The case of the alleged abduction of the Saudi woman was registered on April 18 at Margalla police station, Islamabad, based on the complaint filed by a member of the Saudi Arabian embassy staff, Badr Al-Harbi.

The FIR filed in this case claimed the involvement of a Pakistani citizen in the alleged abduction, after which Islamabad Police announced the recovery of the Saudi woman from Karachi and stated that the suspect was also taken into custody.

According to Islamabad Police, after registering the FIR, special teams were formed to investigate the issue and the Saudi woman and the suspect were found in Karachi, where they were living in a guest house.
