Turkey’s investors visit Karachi Airport

CAA provides briefing on airport's current operations

A delegation of high-level investors from Turkey recently visited Karachi Airport with a keen interest in outsourcing Pakistan’s airport sector.

The delegation specifically toured the domestic arrival and departure lounge of Karachi airport

The team was provided with a comprehensive briefing on the airport’s operations by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) crew, led by Secretary Aviation Saif Anjum.

The Turkish investors were also informed about the passenger traffic and business potential associated with the airport.

The group is scheduled to visit the CAA Headquarters and Cargo Terminal on Monday (today).

The federal government had previously decided to outsource three major airports in the country, namely Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.

This attracted the interest of investors from Germany, France, Netherlands, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, and Turkey, in addition to local groups.

In March, the Civil Aviation Authority extended the bid submission date for outsourcing Islamabad International Airport.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that transparency is of utmost importance to the government throughout the process of outsourcing international airports.

He stated that Pakistan is offering to outsource certain commercial operations of Islamabad International Airport through a Public Private Partnership.
