Umber Ali, a Pakistani software engineer, expressed her belief in a miracle after delivering her baby in an emergency procedure during the recent historic storm in the UAE.

Grateful to the Almighty, as well as the doctors and volunteers who played a crucial role, Umber Ali, 33, shared her experience with Gulf News shortly after being discharged from the hospital. She said, “My baby boy not only survived the storm outside but also the emergency situation that occurred on Tuesday evening.”

Umber, who resides with her husband Mohammed Ali, also a software engineer, and their four-year-old daughter, explained that her husband managed to drive them to the hospital where she had been receiving consultation. However, due to the flooded conditions, she had to be transferred to Aster Hospital Sharjah in an ambulance for an emergency C-section, Gulf News reported.

“My baby wasn’t due until July 7, but he decided to arrive early,” she revealed.

Umber mentioned that their family friends tried their best to be present at the hospital but were unable to reach them due to the waterlogged roads. Nonetheless, she expressed gratitude for the safe delivery of her child.

While the baby boy is currently in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at the hospital, Umber expressed her appreciation for the volunteers from the Rain Support UAE forum who promptly assisted her in returning home after her discharge.

“I was ready to be discharged last night, but our car was damaged by the floodwaters. I sought help on one of the Rain Support UAE groups, and a couple, like angels, came forward to bring me home this morning. I have so much to be thankful for,” Umber stated upon reaching home.

She added that the couple who assisted them wished to remain anonymous.

Umber described the volunteers as being like family and expressed her genuine gratitude for their kindness and generosity. Some even offered to accommodate them in their homes.

Umber mentioned that their building is still surrounded by water but the utilities are fully functional, which brings her relief.

When asked about her newborn’s name, Umber revealed that she is still searching for a suitable name for her miracle boy and is open to suggestions.
