In a recent interview, Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone commended Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James for his remarkable longevity in the NBA and dismissed previous retirement claims. This statement comes ahead of their highly anticipated first-round playoff matchup.

During last year’s Western Conference finals, Malone jokingly mocked James about retirement after the Nuggets swept the Lakers. However, Malone clarified that it was all in good fun and drew laughs from the panel.

Now, as the Nuggets prepare to face the Lakers once again in the playoffs, Malone had nothing but praise for James and his accomplishments in his 21st year in the league. He expressed his admiration for James’ ability to continually improve his game, stating, “It’s like year 21, and the guy is getting better… I’ve seen no signs of LeBron James slowing down. I hope he gets tired. I hope he wears down. But I’ve seen no signs of LeBron James slowing down by any means.”

Malone acknowledged that facing James and the Lakers would present another tough challenge for his team, but he remains confident in their abilities. The Nuggets, who finished as the No. 2 team in the Western Conference, are looking to build on their recent success against the Lakers and continue their strong performance in the playoffs.

In their previous matchups, the Nuggets have had the upper hand, sweeping the Lakers last year as well as during the current season. Led by two-time league MVP Nikola Jokic and point guard Jamal Murray, the Nuggets aim to maintain their dominance over the defending NBA champions.

The first-round playoff series between the Nuggets and the Lakers is set to commence on Saturday, April 20, at the Ball Arena in Denver. Fans eagerly anticipate the showdown between these two formidable teams, with LeBron James once again proving his longevity and skill on the court.
