Punjab government has constituted a joint investigation team to investigate the Bahawalnagar incident.

Punjab’s special secretary interior Fazlur Rahman has been appointed as the JIT’s convener.

According to the notification, Commissioner Bahawalpur Nadir Chatta and DIG Special Branch Faisal Raja are members of the JIT.

One representative each from ISI and IB will also be included in the JIT.

It should be noted that a house was raided by the police to arrest the accused a few days ago and the family of the accused accused the police of violating the sanctity of the chador and four walls and of violence.

The police had claimed that they had raided a house to arrest the wanted accused, during which several people, including the family members, took the policemen hostage and tortured them.

The police had also registered a case against 23 people, including women.
