PDMA issues heat-wave warning in April
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority in Punjab has warned that the multiple parts of the country could face a heat wave in the month of April.
The PDMA has cited Pakistan Meteorological Department’s monthly outlook for April to announced that Punjab could be slightly warmer weather than ususal.
Issued on March 29, the advisory said that temperatures could rise to slightly above average compared to the temperatures from 1991-2020.
While warning about the warmer than normal temperatures, PDMA also said that the highest deviation from average temperatures would be in the northern parts of the country including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.
However, plain areas in Punjab can also witness higher-than-normal temperatures and the issue could be especially exacerbated in larger cities.
Meanwhile, rainfall levels will trend towards the average that is normally received in the month of April.
The Authority has advised all concerned departments to stay prepared in case of any emergency.
District administrations and rescue services have both been advised by the PDMA to complete their preparations in advance.
