Fact check: Did govt announce four public holidays for Eidul Fitr
A notification was making rounds on social media on Saturday claiming that the federal government has announced public holidays from April 9 to 12 for the occasion of Eidul Fitr. But the interior ministry has clarified that it is fake.
The government has so far made no decision related to Eid holidays, a statement from the ministry said.
It added that the government would issue a notification and make an announcement related to the Eid holidays.
Eidul Fitr is a significant festival in the Islamic calendar. Muslims all over the world observe a month of fasting, and Eid celebrations mark the end of this period of self-restraint.
This year, Eidul Fitr is expected to fall on April 10 or April 11, depending on the sighting of the moon.
