Germany’s new visa rule allows foreign students to work before studies

New law allows international students to work from 120 days to 140 full days in a year

Germany’s new visa rule has come into effect, allowing international students to work before their studies begin in the European Union country.

The new skilled worker law allows foreign students to work during their studies, SchengenVisaInfo reported. It came into effect in March

The second part of the skilled worker law is expected to bring advantages to several categories, including apprenticeship applicants and graduates, among others.

Visa for study applications allows non-EU students to come to Germany nine months in advance and work up to 20 hours per week. They can complete courses in English and German, prepare their application, and become familiar with the environment.

“The new law will now enable international students to work from 120 to 140 full days in a year or 280 half-days per calendar year,” it said.
