The United Arab Emirates (UAE) residents will be enjoying prolonged 9-day Eid holidays on Eidul Fitr this year.

While people in the UAE will get the extended holiday officially, many in Pakistan have plans to stretch their five-day Eid holiday to nine days.

The UAE government has announced Eid holidays from the 29th day of Ramadan to the third day of Shawwal. The dates correspond to Monday, April 8 and Friday, April 12, respectively.

The five-day eid holiday begins after a weekend and ends before another weekend. This simply means people will enjoy nine days off from work — from Saturday, April 6 to Sunday, April 14.

Extended Eid holidays in Pakistan

In Pakistan, the first day of Eidul Fitr will fall on either April 10 or 11. Since the government allows a three-day holiday on Eidul Fitr, the Eid break may run from April 10 to April 12.

On April 13 and 14, you have a weekend. Hence, people may enjoy a five-day extended Eid holiday, officially.

However, if Pakistanis added Monday and Tuesday to their Eid break, they too would be enjoying a 9-day eid holiday.
