Ride-hailing app driver held for ‘misbehaving’ with female passenger

The Karachi police arrested the driver of a private ride-hailing service for allegedly misbehaving with a female customer and beating her brother mid-journey.

A police spokesperson on Tuesday said that DIG East Ghulam Azfar directed SHO Bahadurabad to arrest the culprit after the aggrieved customer contacted the Electronic Complaint Cell of the Karachi police.

The driver was arrested within hours of the complaint and a first information report was registered against him.

In her complaint, the female customer alleged that the driver refused to stop the car and let them out after she and her brother felt that he was not looking normal.

According to the complainant, the accused later stop the car and started beating her brother and broke his arm.

She went on to add that the passerby people saved him from the driver and was later moved to the hospital for treatment.

The female customer also alleged that her purse, having around Rs8,000 fell during the spat which the driver took with him and fled.
