Gandapur seeks plan of action to recover KP’s arrears from centre

Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has sought a plan of action within a month to recover the province’s arrears from the centre.

CM Gandapur presided over a meeting to discuss the financial dealings of KP with the federal government. He was given detailed briefings on the province’s due of Rs1.51 trillion to the centre.

CM Gandapur directed the provincial authorities to seek legal experts’ services to raise the issue before the federal government.

He said that the KP government would approach the courts if the centre fails to pay heed to the province’s demand.

During the briefing, CM Gandapur was told that despite the merger of erstwhile Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) with KP, but its financial integration with the province was incomplete causing financial problems for the provincial government.

The population of the province increased but the share of the province in the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award has not been increased accordingly, it was revealed during the briefing.

They said that under the existing population after the Fata-KP merger, the province’s share in the NFC Award came to 19.64% of the total but it was getting 14.62% only.
