Motorcycle blast kills 2 in Peshawar
A bomb blast near Peshawar’s Board Bazaar on Sunday left at least two people dead, while one was injured. Police are yet to make a definite statement the nature of the blast.
The bomb was fixed to a motorcyle, according to authorities. The blast took place on Nasir Bagh Road, a major thoroughfare in the city.
SSP Operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi said that the police was investigating the nature of the blast. Authorities later added that the blast was not a suicide attack.
Police said that two handlers and a possible suicide bomber were allegedly travelling on the motorbike when the expolsion took place.
The SSP said that 4-5kgs of explosives were used in the balst, although it would be premature to say who the target of the blast was.
A large police contingent reached the area immediately after the blast was reported. Nasir Bagh Road has been closed for all traffic.
As a result of the blast, two people died and one was injured. The bodies of the dead were sifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital.
The person injured in the blast is said to be in a critical state.
According to the SSP Operations, at least three people were riding the motorcyle.
He added that human remains had been found at the blast site. He also said that the process of identifying the dead and injured was still underway.
