MP smokes cigarette in National Assembly for first time in Pakistan’s history
Taking notice of a National Assembly member smoking on the house floor, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq on Friday regretted that such an instance was the first to have happened in the history of Pakistan.
“For the first time in the history of Pakistan, an honourable member smoked a cigarette on the floor of the National Assembly. You have to seek permission even if you have to drink water,” he said during an NA session.
He also took notice of the use of social media in the NA. Speaker Sadiq said that Tiktokers making videos from the gallery was prohibited.
“We have not yet objected to it, but if this continues then we will take action,” he added.
While highlighting that the lobbies were part of the House, he said that only members of the National Assembly are allowed to visit lobbies while irrelevant individuals were requested to avoid going into the lobbies.
