PML-N govt to appoint Mohsin Naqvi federal interior minister: sources
Former caretaker chief minister of Punjab Mohsin Naqvi is likely to become the next federal interior minister, sources said on Friday.
He will contest the election for the Senate seat as the ruling coalition’s joint candidate, they added.
Naqvi, who is also serving as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, will take oath as a member of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s federal cabinet.
He was elected unopposed as the chairman of the PCB on February 6 in a meeting presided over by PCB Chief Election Commissioner Shah Khawar.

Naqvi was sworn in as the caretaker CM of Punjab on January 22, 2023, after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) unanimously decided to appoint him to the post.
As the consultations surrounding the federal cabinet intensified, sources said that PML-N leader Ishaq Dar would be made the foreign minister.
Former caretaker foreign minister Jalil Abbas Jilani would be the adviser to the PM on foreign affairs and Tariq Fatemi would be the special assistant to the PM on foreign affairs.
