BJP eyeing cricketer Mohammed Shami as Lok Sabha candidate
Bhartiya Janata Party’s sources claim that famous field cricketer, Mohammed Shami shortly will join the Lok Sabha poll’s ‘candidate’ in West Bengal.
BJP has proposed Shami to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Bengal. The cricketer is yet to make a decision but discussion are said to have been ‘positive’.
Sources say that the party had an internal discussion over Shami’s entrance into the party. His presence can boost the party’s chances to win in minority-dominated areas due to his popularity.
The party’s focal point is to take in Shami from the Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency which has been in the headlines after Sandeshkhali village witnessed violence.
The cricketer has yet to respond to the proposal to stand in this election. This is not the first time that a cricketer will join politics.
The India pacer, Mohammed Shami born in 1990, in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, India, is a famous cricketer for his stunning performance in ODI World Cup 2023, also being the fastest bowler in the 2015 World Cup in Australia.
In the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy, Shami’s performance was so impressive that he was promoted to international cricket.
The Indian cricketer made headlines when he said that he had no issues with the construction of Ram Mandir.
