Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz paid a surprise visit to a police station in Lahore, hours after taking oath.
Maryam visited Shalimar Police Station in Lahore accompanied by IG Usman Anwar, who briefed her on operations.
Earlier, she issued orders for immediate measures to to give people relief from inflation.
The CM ordered that a separate department for price control should be created within five days. She also ordered that demand and supply mechanics should be strictly monitored across the province.
Maryam also said that temporary measures would not work to control prices and permanent mechanisms must be put in place.
She was elected as the first female CM in the province’s history earlier in the day. In her first speech in the assembly, Maryam said that five years were a ‘short time’ to put the province in order but she would serve the people to the best of her ability.
