Sindh government on Friday announced that all schools and colleges will remain closed on Monday, February 26 on the occasion of Shab-e-Baraat.

The Steering Committee has held that all the public and private educational institutions will remain closed on February 26 on account of Shab-e-Baraat (15th Shaban, 1445).

Muslims in Pakistan and around the world observe Shab-e-Barat every year. The night is believed as The Night of Fortune and Forgiveness which comes in the run-up to the start of the month of Ramadan.

While the date of the beginning of Ramadan is known to be around March, a possible exact date has been announced for Saudi Arabia.

Media reports in Saudi Arabia quoting an astronomy expert said that the first Ramadan could fall on March 11.

The prediction was made by Ibrahim Al Jarwan, chairman of the board of the Emirates Astronomy Society.

Jarwan has further added that summer in Saudi Arabia will begin on December 22 and end on March 20.

The month of Ramadan will fall in the summer season for the first time in 26 years and will stay that way until 2031. The month will again fall in the winter season for eight years from 2031 to 2039.
