Bilawal condemns ‘un-Islamic’ marriage case verdict against Khan, Bushra
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has condemned the punishment awarded to ex-prime minister Imran Khan and former first lady Bushra Bibi in the “un-Islamic marriage case”.
“It is difficult for me to support this,” he said in an interview with Dawn News show Dusra Rukh that was aired on the news channel on Sunday.
He was asked about the trial court’s verdict in the case. The court sentenced Khan and his wife to seven years each in a case related to their marriage, which it declared “un-Islamic”.
The verdict was announced on Saturday in the case which was filed by Bushra Bibi’s former husband.
“But I would explicitly condemn this,” he said and added that leaders should not stoop so low in politics.
“We should not stoop so low in politics that these conversations are discussed in court or media,” he said and lamented the state has fallen to such a level.
