Shehbaz resolves to take everybody on board after election 2024
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday resolved to take everyone everybody on board even if the party successfully secures a mandate to form government.
“I am hopeful that we will get a clear mandate. However, we will consult with others if we do not succeed in securing a clear mandate,” he said while addressing a press conference in Lahore.
Taking a jibe at PTI, Sharif said that party voters should vote for Transparency International (TI) instead of PTI-affiliated candidates in election 2024 as it has revealed who are thieves.
“Pakistan witnessed historic foreign investment during the tenure of Nawaz Sharif and the corruption index ranking was down 22 points from the previous [PPP] government,” he said while addressing a press conference in Lahore.
During the PTI’s four-year government, Pakistan’s ranking in Transparency International’s Corruption Perception Index went up to 140 points from 117 in the PML-N government.
Sharif credited all the 13 political parties of the previous coalition government in the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) for improvement in the country’s ranking on the global corruption index.
Responding to a question regarding a comparison between Karachi and Lahore, he said the “sea of water in Karachi portrayed a picture of ruins” Saturday night.
“A day ago comparison had been drawn as mothers and sisters waded through knee-high rainwater and vehicles got stuck in pools of water,” the former prime minister added.
He said that it was up to the people to give a decision through the ballot box as future of upcoming generations was attached to the polls.
