Authorities issue directions for tourists as snowfall begins in KP
Following a prolonged dry winter, Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa received snowfall on Sunday, transforming the region into a picturesque wonderland, gripping foreign and local tourists.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasted further rain and snowfall in the province. The advisory indicates that KP’s Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Malakand, Abbottabad, Balakot, Mansehra, Peshwar, Bajor, Karam and surrounding areas will brace more rain and snowfall.
During this period, the weather will remain cold and cloudy in the upper districts of the province.
The forecast further indicated a round of downpours and snowfall in Kashmir, particularly focusing on Athmuqam and surrounding areas.
Simultaneously, popular tourist areas like Lawat Bala, Arangkel, Taobat, and Jagran are immersed in a sequence of snowfall episodes.
Muhammad Saad, spokesman for the Tourism Authority, on Sunday, announced the onset of winter tourism in these upper regions.
“In preparation for the influx of tourists, Tourism Police have appointed young personnel to ensure the provision of excellent facilities,” Muhammad Saad said.
The Authority advised tourists to use vehicles equipped for snowy conditions when travelling to snowfall-prone areas.
Cautioning drivers in mountainous terrains, police stressed the importance of safe driving practices during the snowy season.
