American publication Bloomberg has published a new report saying Nawaz Sharif’s economic performance has been better than his competitors in the previous three decades.

The article has reached its conclusion by creating a ‘misery index’ which combines inflation and unemployment rates, which gives a percentage score to Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

In the index, the lowest score is the best. Bloomberg also said that the ranks were based on performance since 1990.

PTI is second with 16.1% and PPP is third with 17.2%.

The index ranks PMLN with the best score out of the three parties with 14.5%.

However, it must be noted that both PPP and PMLN have been in office three times for the duration considered by the report while PTI has only been in power once.

“The public may be giving Sharif the benefit of the doubt,” Bloomberg’s Ankur Shukla said in the report.

However, he added that whichever party comes to power following next month’s general election will face a massive task in fixing the economy.

Nawaz returned to Pakistan in October last year after almost four years in exile. He has slowly stepped up on the campaign, touting his economic performance during his previous term as his main slogan.
