Pakistan on Wednesday decided to expel the Iranian Ambassador and recall its Ambassador from Iran after a violation of the country’s airspace in an Iranian strike that killed two children, the spokesperson for the foreign office said.

“The Iranian ambassador to Pakistan who is currently visiting Iran, may not return for the time being. We have also decided to suspend all high-level visits which were ongoing or were planned between Pakistan and Iran in the coming days,” Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said during a press briefing.

She went on to add that the act is completely unacceptable and has no justification and that Pakistan reserved the right to respond to such acts.

Soon after the announcement, sources said that Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran Mudassir Tipu was set to leave Tehran later tonight and would arrive in Qatar. He will then depart for Islamabad tomorrow morning.

Additionally, the Pakistan Customs officials deployed at Chabahar Port left the port and were returning to the country after Pakistan announced to end officials ties with Iran, they added.

Earlier today, Pakistan summoned Iran’s charge d’affair in Islamabad to condemn the attack.

Irani state media, meanwhile, first reported a strike inside Pakistan but the story soon disappeared from state TV and wires.

Reports said Iran launched a drone and missile strike in Balochistan’s Panjgur district in the Sabz Koh area near the Iranian border.

Makran Divisional Commissioner Said Imrani confirmed the development to BBC Urdu and said the authorities were collecting more information.

The missile hit a populous area and left two children dead while other people were injured, reported BBC Urdu.
