Police in the Mirpur district of Kashmir arrested a woman who was allegedly involved in smuggling females after marrying them while impersonating a man.

The Pakistan-origin French woman would visit the South Asian country disguised as a man, marry women, and take them to foreign countries.

The arrest of the suspect came following a complaint filed by the father of one of the victims, who was recovered from the gang of the smugglers.

Speaking to the media, the recovered girl’s father said that a woman named Nargis disguised as Shaban (a male) and tied the knot with his daughter.

Shaban then expressed a wish to take his daughter to France with him via Dubai, according to the father.

The family later found that the person, who married their daughter, was a woman named Nargis.

The girl’s father said that the gang comprising women, tortured his daughter and attempted to trade her. However, with the family’s efforts the victim was recovered and shifted to a safer place in France.

Meanwhile, Nargis once again arrived in Pakistan and began her hunt for another victim.

As the family was already aware of her intentions, they informed police leading to her arrest.

The father of the victim requested the authorities to bring his daughter back to Pakistan.

Meanwhile, police initiated an investigation against the accused and the gang she was working for to smuggle women.
