An Indian man allegedly killed his newborn son out of disappointment at not being blessed with a daughter, according to police.

The incident occurred in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district, where a man named Anil Uikey beat his wife for delivering a son for the third time and allegedly killed the baby. Uikey was allegedly under the influence of drugs at the time.

According to the police, the wife of the accused was scared of torture and returned to her mother’s house. The man had snatched the 12-day-old from her hands as she went.

After returning home she found her son had died. Police added that there were marks of strangulation around the neck of the baby.

The First Information Report (FIR) of the incident was registered against the accused with the addition of relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The Police initiated the probe into the matter after arresting the accused.

During the investigation, the accused revealed that he had already two sons and had hoped to have a daughter. However, the birth of his son led him to the cruel act.
