Bilawal takes aim at Nawaz Sharif in Dera Murad Jamali rally

Claims people are not happy with ‘leaders sitting in Islamabad’
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto speech | Dera Murad Jamali Jalsa - Aaj News

Without naming PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has claimed that attempts were being made to impose a man as the country’s prime minister for the fourth time.

“You made a person prime minister three times. Today attempts are being made to make him PM for the fourth time,” he said while addressing party supporters in Balochistan’s Dera Murad Jamali on Sunday.

Bilawal, who has been spearheading the party’s election campaign, has slammed the policies of the PML-N government during the coalition government tenure.

In his speeches, he has criticised the coalition government for its economic policies. Though Bilawal was part of it, but he has defended himself by sharing his performance as the foreign minister in rallies.

Many political opponents of Nawaz and experts have been wary of the former prime minister’s arrival in the country after ending self-imposed exile. They also doubt the way the PML-N supremo is being treated by the judiciary.

“If you [PML-N] have to make a government ever and Nawaz has to become the PM, it will be with the help of Tareen and Khattak,” analyst Hamid Mir told Shaukat Piracha of Aaj News two months ago.

“The people of four provinces are not happy with the leaders sitting in Islamabad,” the scion of Bhutto dynasty said and added that the people of Pakistan would not accept such a decision.

“The people of Pakistan are not slaves of anyone.”

In the recent past, Bilawal urged the nation to give new faces a chance and shun old-timers. At one rally, he also advised old politicians to sit at home and rest.

But maybe his father Asif Ali Zardari does not agree with it. In an interview with Hamid Mir of Geo News, the former president said that Bilawal was not trained yet and the party was working on it.

Zardari admitted that his son was more educated and talented than him, but it would take time for him as “experience is experience.”

“We will take our right on February 8,” Bilawal told his supporters as another resolution as tabled in the Senate on Sunday seeking election delay. The country of over 240-million people would elect its new government next month in the delayed polls.

In November, he hinted at sit-ins and protests in case election results were changed. He was of the view that unfair polls would lead the country back to square one where one man would be the prime minister and another would accuse him/her of rigging.

In his speech, Bilawal alleged that there was a conspiracy being hatched against Pakistan at the foreign level. He added that terrorism was rising in the country, along with the economic crisis.

“Do you want to see the same finance minister of the PML-N once again?” Bilawal asked supporters in crowd. Many experts have slammed ex-finance czar Ishaq Dar for the way he led the finance ministry. He was also criticsed for his statements related to the IMF loan programme and nukes on the floor of the House.

Moreover, Bilawal vowed to double the salaries and establish a university in Naseerabad after being elected.

“I am now building two million houses for flood victims in Sindh. Our flood victims are suffering,” he said and added that the party would provide relief to farmers through Benazir Kisaan card.
