Amid a shortage of skilled nursing staff and experts in Germany, the country is expected to need around 500,000 foreign nurses by 2030, Y-Axis reported.

The German Federal Employment Agency launched the Triple Win Programme in 2013 to facilitate the migration of trained foreign nurses to the country.

The programme is aimed at recruiting qualified nurses from other countries to migrate to Germany and fill the nursing staff shortages.

Licenced nurses will be required to complete technical and language training to practice in Germany.

They will then not only find job opportunities in Germany but also receive support in both personal and professional development while their credentials are formally recognised within a year of arrival.

The German government’s “Triple Win” programme’s benefits include job opportunities and support for professional and personal development.

Those eligible to apply must have graduation from accredited nursing institutions, must be of legal age of 18 and a proof of a German language level of at least B1 at the time of visa application.

While the visa is valid for a period of one year, it can be turned into a residence permit once nurses successfully complete the B2 exam and the recognition process in Germany.

The visa holders can convert their visa into a permanent resident permit after five years.
