Karachi witnesses coldest night of winter season
Karachi witnessed the coldest night of the ongoing winter wave on Wednesday, as the temperature in the metropolitan dropped by two points.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), 10 degrees Celsius minimum temperature has been recorded in Karachi. The winds are blowing from the northeast at a speed of two kilometres per hour.
The Met Office said the port city is expected to witness more cold weather in upcoming days when mercury is likely to drop to a single digit.
However, the weather will remain cold and cloudy in the upper parts of the country, while plains of Punjab and Sindh are likely to prevail in fog. This situation will persist across the country throughout this week.
The dense fog and smog are likely to persist in plain areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh.
However, northern areas and some parts of north Balochistan will experience chilly weather during 12 hours.
The temperature of other major cities recorded this morning was Islamabad and Peshawar 2 degrees Celsius, Lahore 5C, Quetta -2C, Gilgit -4C, Murree 1C and Muzafarabad 3 degrees Celsius.
