The blockbuster contest between Pakistan and India at the T20 World Cup would be held on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in Long Island, New York.

“Ten of the 20 teams will play their first match of the 29-day tournament in the USA, with 16 contests to be held in Lauderhill, Dallas and New York,” the International Cricket Council said on Friday.

The runner-up of the 2022 T20 World Cup would be eyeing their second title under the captaincy of Shaheen Shah Afridi.

When the two arch-rivals met in the last T20 World Cup, India beat Pakistan by four wickets. It was a group-stage match. It was Virat Kohli who helped his side to chase the 160 runs target as the Indian wickets crumbled in front of Pakistan’s pace attack.

As many as 41 matches would be played in the Caribbean across six different islands, with semi-finals in Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana and the title decider scheduled to be played in Barbados on June 29.
