PM Kakar’s Hindu remarks irk social media users
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar’s recent comment related to Dr Shafi Mengal’s murder has drawn ire on social media.
Kakar gave a detailed response on Monday to a query on Baloch protests in Islamabad. He spoke in length about the militant organisations in the province and the security forces’ operation to bring peace.
In his detailed response, he got a bit angry as many people criticised him for not resolving the issues of Baloch people despite belonging to the province.
At one moment he also asked a reporter to sit down as he wanted to complete his response.
“We have a fight against armed organisations not against Baloch. Those who have become champions should give an answer that who killed Dr Shafi Mengal. Was not he Baloch? Was he Hindu or had he come from Hindustaan? Who was Maula Bux Dashti? Was he Hindu, English, Christian, or Jew? Was not he Baloch? If you don’t have guts or don’t know so have a treatment for both of these things. Either get knowledge or have guts,” he said.
A group of people from Balochistan that has been protesting against the killing of a youth reached the federal capital on December 20. They are being led by the Baloch Yakjehti Council. The organisers of the protest had accused police of beating women protesters and children, an allegation police have denied.
His comment did not go well with some social media users as they questioned the logic behind murder.
“What Anwaarul Haq Kakar meant rhetorically that was he a Hindu from India that no one spoke for him as he was the enemy. He didn’t meant religious things I believe,” a social media user said.
