5.5 magnitude earthquake strikes parts of Turkiye
An earthquake jolted parts of eastern Turkiye on Thursday, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
According to EMSC, the intensity of the earthquake was recorded as 5.5 on the Richter scale and occurred 11km SW of Malatya in Turkey.
In February this year, a huge earthquake killed more than 2,600 people and injured thousands in Turkiye and northwest Syria.
The magnitude 7.8 quake brought down whole apartment blocks in Turkish cities and piled more devastation on millions of Syrians displaced by years of war.
