Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has revealed that he voted for the PTI in the 2013 and 2018 elections.

“I voted for PTI as a party in the 2013 and 2018 elections and I am not ashamed of it. The PTI government was expected to improve governance and the economy,” he said during an interview with a private TV channel on Saturday.

On PTI’s concerns regarding a level-playing field, he assured that the government would investigate the complaints about hurdles to stop some people from taking part in the electoral process.

“People are free to vote for the candidates of their choice. There is no policy to oust anyone from the political process. If anyone is prevented from the election process, we will investigate it and talk to the Election Commission of Pakistan in this regard,” he added.

PM Kakar said that those involved in the May 9 riots should not be allowed to hold public office.

However, he said that PTI as a whole should not be related to the May 9 incident and people should have a choice to vote for it in the election.

On PTI founder Imran Khan’s arrest, PM Kakar said that the former prime minister was arrested due to an allegation and he could have received relief from the court but his party resorted to violence which led to the present circumstances.
