The Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to hear objections raised against the delimitations of constituencies after the result of the election 2024.

“If at this stage the petitions are fixed for hearing it will adversely affect the Election Program and the last date for filing of Nomination Papers. Therefore, the hearing of the subject cases are deferred till the culmination of the General Elections 2024 and election will be held on the Constituencies as per Form-VII issued by the Commission dated 30.11.2023 subject to any correction, if occasioned,” the ECP order stated.

The electoral body referred to an earlier order of the Supreme Court that held that postponing general elections to address constituency delimitation could lead to a vacuum in governance and a potential crisis of legitimacy.

The ECP order stated that the apex court had directed the ECP to organise and conduct the elections as per the final delimitation notified on November 30 in accordance with the election programme notified on December 15.
