Inamur Rahim, the father of Sarah who was killed by her husband Shahnawaz Amir, has called for punishment for the culprit’s mother Samina Shah who was acquitted by the court.

“Satisfied with the sentence awarded to the culprit, but her mother was involved and she should be given some punishment,” he told reporters outside the court on Thursday.

He responded to reporter’s query after the district and sessions court in Islamabad sentenced Shahnawaz to death for the murder of his wife Sarah Inam on Thursday and imposed a Rs1 million fine on him.

The reserved decision was announced by District and Sessions Court Judge Nasir Javed.

“At least he [Shahnawaz] will go jail and he will be hanged,” he said and shared that he becomes concerned whenever he sees young woman with men.

When asked if he would file an appeal against Samina Shah’s acquittal, Inam said that he would talk to his lawyer and hoped that Shahnawaz would be sentenced to death.

“If we approached the high court, then her mother will also be punished. We are not withdrawing the 109 challan against her because we have a doubt that she supported the culprit. Shahnawaz and her mother should be punished,” he said.

Inam was accompanied by Shaukat Mukadam, the father of Noor Mukadam who was found murdered at Zahir Jaffar’s residence in Islamabad on July 20 last year.

Inam urged Chief Justice of Pakistan to conduct speedy trial of the Noor Mukadam case.

“If we approached the high court, then her mother will also be punished. We are not withdrawing the 109 challan against her because we have a doubt that she supported the culprit. Shahnawaz and her mother should be punished,” he said.

According to Inam, there were not problems but it took more than expected time and the lawyer of culprit arrived late in the court. “There were some political reasons because of which the case was delayed. But overall it is not bad. Thank God the court has punished the main culprit.”

He added that he wanted that justice was served and called for the implementation of the judgement. “We want justice in Noor Mukadam and Sarah Inam case.”
