An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Quetta handed over PTI activist Khadija Shah to police on a 3-day remand on Tuesday.

ATC Judge Saadat Khan Bazai conducted a hearing on the case where the police produced the fashion designer.

During the hearing, the investigation officer sought a remand of 14 days for forensic examination of her mobile phone as he claimed that the fashion designer had incited people through WhatsApp.

Shah’s lawyer Iqbal Shah contested the argument saying that the police thought of doing a forensic examination of Shah’s phone after six months.

After hearing both parties, the court approved a 3-day remand of the fashion designer and handed her over to the police.

A day earlier, Quetta police arrested Shah and sought an ATC in Lahore to approve a three-day transit remand.

In the application, the police said that they had obtained her arrest warrants from Quetta ATC.

The Lahore ATC approved a two-day transit remand of Shah and ordered the police to present her before the relevant court.

It is pertinent to mention that the deputy commissioner of Lahore Rafia Haider November 17 issued the detention order for Shah for 30 days under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order.

“The activities of Ms. Khadija Shah W/o Jahanzaib presently House No. 05. Askari Villa Lahore Cantt, are prejudicial to the public safety and maintenance of Public Order. SP Cantt Division, Lahore & District Intelligence Branch have further reported that the above-mentioned lady is an active member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf,” said the order.
