Quetta Gladiators have decided to appoint Shane Watson as the franchise’s head coach for the next edition of the Pakistan Super League.

ESPNCricinfo reported that an agreement has been reached between the former all-rounder and the team and is likely to be made official on Wednesday.

Moin Khan, who has served as the Gladiators’ coach since the league began eight years ago, is likely to be moved to the role of director.

Watson, a former Australian cricketer, played for the team from 2018 to 2020. He was declared player of the torunament in the Gladiators’ winning campaign in 2019.

He played 59 tests, 190 ODIs and 58 T20Is for Australia before finally retiring from all forms of cricket in 2020.

He has also served as an assistant coach in the Indian Premier League and a head coach in the Major League Cricket in the United States.
