Unhappy over ‘welcome to Pakistan’ sign, Afghanistan closes Torkham border
Afghanistan’s Taliban regime has raised objections over a border sign reading and closed the Torkham Border Crossing in protest.
A signboard was being installed near the border crossing, reading ‘Welcome to Pakistan’.
Afghan security officials stopped Pakistani workers from installing the signboard near the border.
Shortly after the development, the Afghan authorities closed the Torkham border crossing, security sources said.
The border trade and the movement of goods including those falling under Afghan transit trade has been suspended, said the security sources.
