WhatsApp introduces secret code to boost privacy protocols
WhatsApp has launched its new feature ‘secret code’ to further protect the sensitive conversations of its millions of users, as the popular messaging mobile application to bolster the privacy protocols.
With the new feature, users can set a unique password different from what they use to unlock their phones to give the locked chats an extra layer of privacy.
Users would have the option to hide the locked chats folder from their chatlist which would only be open when the secret code would be typed in the search bar.
Whenever there’s a new chat that users want to lock, they can long press to lock it rather than visiting the chat’s settings.
Earlier this year, WhatsApp rolled out Chat Lock with same the purpose. But the new feature further boosts the safety procedures.
The secret code in the coming months would be available globally.
Earlier this year, Pakistan launched the pilot of its first-ever communication application ‘Beep Pakistan’, an alternative to WhatsApp.
In the first phase, the app would be used for internal communication between the Ministry of IT and Communication and the National Information Technology Board.
