Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has told a rally in Quetta that the country must move towards a new politics that unites instead of dividing the people. He added that the party would bring a new people’s charter of the economy.

Addressing the party’s foundation day rally in Quetta’s Ayub Stadium on Thursday, Bilawal said that Benazir Bhutto could have hanged all collaborators of dictatorial regimes but had chosen to unite instead of dividing the country.

He added that the new politics must put more money in the pockets of the ordinary person to make them stable enough to fight inflation.

The former foreign minister said that only the PPP represented the ordinary man’s interests and the rest were representatives of the elite. He said that he would become the representative of the youth himself.

He added that no other party is serious about the electionc scheduled for February 8 except PPP.

Bilawal announced that the party would bring a ‘youth card’ that would help young people get vocational training, jobs, and access to sports facilities. He also announced that the cards would give people access to youth centres in each city.

He also criticised the PMLN, saying that the party had the keys to the treasury during the 16-month PDM government.

Bilawal began his speech with slogans in favour of Benazir and Bhutto. He also led chants of ‘Agli bari phir Zardari’

This was the first time the father and son were on stage together since the latter dismissed Bilawal’s criticism of ‘old’ politicians.

Bilawal and Zardari have been in Quetta since Wednesday along with the party’s senior leadership.

Organisers said that preparations for the rally were completed on Wednesday night and 25,000 chairs had been placed in the stadium.

However, the party is confident of bringing a crowd large enough to spill out of the venue.

In addition to party workers, PPP leaders claim that a large number of tribal leaders and electables will also participate in the rally.

PPP was founded on November 30, 1967 in Lahore.
