Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has created a draft for bringing changes to the 18th Amendment of the Constitution, sources said.

The party is set to present the draft in its upcoming seminar scheduled in Karachi.

MQM-P has extended invitations to political parties for participation in the seminar where the draft will be presented.

Sources close to the party said that it is necessary for powers to be delegated to the grassroots level, saying that only the chief minister has been empowered after the introduction of the 18th Amendment.

They went on to add that a resolution will presented in the national assembly elected in the upcoming elections.

While MQM-P is reported to have been working on altering the constitutional amendment, PML-N rejected reports suggesting that the party was intending to alter the 18th Constitutional Amendment.

“As the secretary of the party’s manifesto committee, I deny this news; no such proposal is under consideration,” PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said in a statement issued by the party on November 20.
