Pakistan High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Dr Mohammad Faisal has suggested overseas Pakistanis living in the UK, to focus on their individual growth and should not be concerned about the matters taking place in the home country.

“You rise here and Pakistan will rise along with you [overseas Pakistani]. This is one way to move forward. The other way is you stay here and your mind is back there [Pakistan]. Doesn’t make any sense,” he said at the Consulate of Pakistan Bradford, UK on Saturday.

According to him, people in Pakistan will take care of the challenges the country is facing.

“If you feel very strongly about what is going on, please go there [Pakistan] and try to fix it. Nobody is stopping you. If you are successful, Pakistan will benefit. If you are not, it does not matter. You can always come back but the message should be loud and clear that this [UK] is your land that you have chosen. Rise here,” he said.

Journalist Amir Mateen urged for calling back Dr Faisal to the country, claiming that he delved into partisan politics.

“Perhaps the ambassador doesn’t know his job. Of course, they are British. It’s his job to squeeze best benefits for Pakistan convincing them to help Pakistan as much as possible. Here he’s lecturing them to forget about Pakistan. Of course, they can be British and yet also retain Pakistani roots,” he wrote in a post on X.

While admitting that things were not going right in Pakistan, he said that it was for the people in Pakistan to worry about the domestic issues of the country.

“But, is this your issue; is this the issue in your list of priorities? You are here [UK],” he added.

He advised the Pakistani expatriates to solely focus on their lives in the foreign countries they are residing in.

A day earlier, Dr Faisal arrived at Buckingham Palace in a royal horse carriage to present his credentials to King Charles III at a ceremony.

The Pakistani High Commissioner and his wife were taken from the Pakistan Embassy to Buckingham Palace through a special protocol in a royal horse carriage where King Charles III welcomed them to Buckingham Palace.

Dr Faisal conveyed greetings and best wishes of President Dr Arif Alvi and Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar to King Charles.
