Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that he had no greed for power and only wished that God would change the country’s fortunes.

In a recorded speech broadcast on television on Thursday, Nawaz was seen sitting with Maryam Nawaz in Murree infront of party workers.

The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz chief reiterated that the 2018 elections had been fixed to give victory to a particular party by keeping him and his daughter in jail.

He said that Pakistan was thriving under his previous government and people ‘happily’ paid their electricity bills at the time. He added that people earning 25,000 per month today could barely get through a week, let alone an entire month.

Without naming the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, he said that the previous government had ruined the country’s economy to such an extent that it had to be saved from default.

He also referred to Imran Khan without taking his name, saying that a certain leader had destroyed the country’s culture and values.

He added that God will not forigive liars, such as those who had promised to serve people but had deceived them.

The PMLN chief said that he would not approach the public with false promises as he had alreday become prime minister three times and only wished that GOd would change the country’s fortunes.

Nawaz said that he had been offered $5 billion by the United States to stay away from testing the atomic bomb and could have kept the money for himself but had refused to bow to the pressure.
