Leader of the House in the Senate and former finance minister Ishaq Dar stated on Tuesday that the National Finance Commission Award (NFC) award should be revised every five years under the constitution.

The closest aide to three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the PML-N, stated during a point of order in the Upper House of Parliament that the PML-N and PPP had signed the Charter of Democracy in 2006 to bring about reforms in the areas of the judiciary and civil-military relations, and he categorically rejected reports that the 18th Amendment would be removed from the Constitution.

He said that the 18th amendment had assisted in restoring the Constitution, which had been vandalized by the dictators.

Dar recalled working with PPP leader Raza Rabbani to lay the groundwork and finalize the historic amendment, and he continued to be involved in the process.

He said that there is no problem related to the 18th amendment, there is a need to work on the distribution of resources among the provinces under the NFC.

Earlier, NFC was revised in 2009.

A day before, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) posted on X platform and informed that it was not considering reviewing the 18th Amendment or the National Finance Commission (NFC) award.
