PTI ex-MNA Amjad Niazi arrested in May 9 riots case
Former MNA of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Amjad Khan Niazi was arrested on Monday in front of the anti-terrorism court in Mianwali district of Punjab.
PTI shared a video of Niazi surrendering before the police at the ATC. In his statement, he claimed that the cases against him were fabricated.
According to Geo News, the PTI leader was wanted for vandalising an office of an intelligence institution and torching a model of an aircraft.
Niazi was booked in two cases of arson and vandalism on May 9 and 10 and will be produced before the ATC tomorrow (Tuesday), it quoted police as saying.
“If I get disappeared they [police] will be responsible and a question mark will be left on the judiciary if my statement comes,” Niazi said.
He also called for the release of workers who according to him were innocent. “Those who are involved in the Ma 9 riots should be investigated and brought to justice.”

He denied having any role in any terror activity or any corruption.
“Do not call us terrorists or traitors. We have worked for the development of Mianwali and the sovereignty of Pakistan,” the PTI leader concluded.
