The petitions were filed by Umer Ijaz Gilani on behalf of 13 human rights activist.

The activists demanded that the SC should put an end to forced deportations of Afghan refugees.

The government had fixed November 1 as a deadline for undocumented Afghan refugee to leave the country. After the expiry of the deadline, the government began arresting and moving the refugees to holding camps where they were held until deportation.
